The Art of Slowing Down: How I’m Softening Into August

There’s something about August that asks you to exhale.
Not in a dramatic way, just a slow, steady release. Like a deep breath you didn’t know you were holding.

Summer is still here, but softer now. The sun doesn’t rush in quite the same way, and neither do I.

I’ve been craving the quiet lately.

Not silence exactly, but the kind of quiet where my nervous system stops bracing.
Where I can drink my matcha slow, stretch a little longer, sit with my journal before I open my phone.
Where I’m not rushing to fix, perform, or prove anything.

These days, I’m leaning into small things:

  • Coloring one page at a time, not needing to finish.

  • Writing down just one honest sentence, instead of filling the whole page.

  • Lighting a candle after work instead of scrolling.

  • Letting myself cry if I need to. Laugh if I feel it. Sleep when I’m tired.

This is what softening looks like for me right now.

Maybe you’re feeling it too.

That pull to do less. To move slower. To protect your peace like it’s sacred, because it is.
August reminds me I don’t have to earn rest. I can just choose it.

If you need a little softness too...

  • Start with five quiet minutes.

  • Take a walk without your phone.

  • Open your journal and tell the truth.

  • Color outside the lines.

  • Let something go.

Let this be your invitation to soften with me.

P.S. I’ve been using my own journal + coloring book more than ever lately. I didn’t create them just to sell them, I made them to survive. And now they’re helping me come back to myself, again and again.
If you need that too, you can find them [here]. 🌿
